1.
To sustain my life I am working as an artist.
That means I am doing research, exhibitions, workshops, books, photos, drawings, texts, guided tours. Before I start to agree on an exhibition/workshop/project for which I am invited, I am asking these basic questions:

Is a pre-visit of the place included in the programme before the exhibition opens? So that i can think about a site related work?
How do you imagine to finance the research and production of the exhibition?
Am I right that there is no honorarium for the artists/curators/museumstaff/other people working at the place for that exhibition at all? if that is the case i will work for free as well even if I can’t afford it! But if anybody gets money, the artist should get some as well.
What is the minimum amount of money you have for production? I am asking for the minimum amount because I am aware of the fact that some productions need more money and some less (if it is a group show).

The answers to these questions help me to decide if I do the exhibition or not.

2.
As you see in 1. I am searching for a specific approach to make my art. And I think artistic production is one part but the organization around (looking for money, asking for money, inventing money) is minimum 1/3 of my working time. Research is another 1/3 so there is 1/3 left for the real creative time...

And YES I see all this work as part of my art work.
